SelflessTogether

Nurturing Hearts, Inspiring Change

SelflessTogether serves as a platform through which you can provide education to children no access to schools, simultaneously fostering the empowerment and advancement of marginalized communities.

SelflessTogether

Education Center

At SelflessTogether, we are dedicated to offering more than just formal education. We instill kindness and compassion in our children, recognizing that each child holds the power to shape the world.

We engage our children in community service like providing food to the homeless and visiting hospice centers. As we move forward, we plan to arrange additional child-friendly activities. Our belief is simple: the most effective way to nurture kindness in children is by demonstrating it firsthand.

Sustenance Support

Sustenance Support

Amidst the pandemic, we initiated weekly food aid for 50-70 struggling families. This commitment persists as we validate needs through home visits and calls, driven by our belief in equitable support.
Empowering Education

Our collaborations with local health clinics and organizations enable us to provide comprehensive health benefits such as health education, essential health screenings and informative sessions on contraception, family planning, and pre-pregnancy guidance.

Who are Refugees?

About Refugees

Refugees are defined as people who escaped war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country. Only being able to leave with the clothes on their back, they are forced to leave their homes, possessions, jobs and loved ones.

No financial stability

With no stable income and a big family to feed, it is very common for teenage refugee boys to start working as early as 13 years old to help support their families. To survive, they would need to do odd jobs and work unofficially which makes them vulnerable to labor abuse as they are not protected legally by law.

Lack of citizenship

The effect of not owning a citizenship leads to individuals not having access to education and health. They are unable to enroll into public schools and are not entitled to free medical health care. In addition, they are not allowed to work, own a license, or even open a bank account. On top of that, refugee children are at heightened risks of being victims of children trafficking.

Child/Teenage marriage

Refugee teenage girls often fall victims of child/teenage marriage due low socioeconomic status and lack of education. The United Nation has labeled child marriage as a human rights violation, however this is still a persistent practice among the refugees and those of lower socioeconomic status. Many studies have shown that child marriage not only causes profound distress to young girls, but also shown to increase risks of complications in pregnancy, infant mortality, domestic abuse, sexually transmitted infections, cervical cancer etc.
